Routines do not allow unqualified people to do a better job as sometimes perceived. Rather they are systems that allow the performance of tasks or functions on a consistant basis and then evaluated as to their success or failure. For example, if three shifts of milkers all milk differently and there is a mastitis problem then how do you evaluate whether milking proceedure is a problem or not. Routines can help organize employees to make more efficient use of time. In this section approaches to setting up routines and suggestions of managing them will be discussed.
